2003 Mercedes Benz ML 350
Immobilizer issues...

Recently purchased a 2003 Mercedes Benz ML350. While driving it died. Received a Start Error Message. Looked it up in the owners manual. Immobilizer (anti theft device) issue. Without taking this vehicle to a Benz shop, is there any way this can be reset? I have researched and found several "fixes" online, but none of them have worked. Thank you....

That's because the HS you found on he web is just that. You need to find an indy with the diagnostic equipment to quickly determine the fault within the immobilizer system, else live with it!!

The immobilizer is only necessary for recognizing the key and starting the truck. After that it plays no part in keeping the engine running.

Try and start the truck, all the time watching the Tachometer Gauge and see if it moves slightly upwards and bounces.

If it doesn't your Crankshaft Pos. Sensor is faulty.

If it does then it could be a fuel issue or a few other things. Codes must be read.

Thank you Maj. Dundee....the Crankshaft Sensor is exactly what our mechanic said! He is currently installing and programming a new one. Certainly appreciate your knowledge and taking the time to reply in such a professional manner.
