ML55 Unsteadiness
Want to pick the brains of the gurus on here regarding the unsteady feeling of my W163. The feeling is of a wobble, back and forth motion when moving forward. At 117k miles it had a feeling as if the back end would move side to side when accelerating. Now at 133k miles, the feeling is in the front and rear of the vehicle. It is not speed dependent, at 20mph or 100mph I still have this sensation. The vehicle tracks straight as an arrow and the steering sensation is still tight, but feels like a seesaw with any imperfection of the road.
Over the last 15k miles I have replaced or serviced the following:
New tires 295/45/18 Hankook Ventus ST
4 wheel alignment at ride height of 84cm fender to ground
Mount and Balance of all tires (was 15000 miles ago, but have plenty of tread and wear evenly) and rotated every 5000 miles
Replaced the front and rear struts with Bilstein HD at all four corners
Replaced the front and rear lower ball joints with Moog joints
Replaced the front and rear say bar bushings with polyurethane bushings
Replaced the rear sway bar links with polyurethane bushings
Replaced the Front Tie rod ends with Moog TREs
Replaced Plastic Torsion bushings with OEM MB part
Replaced all four rotors and discs ensuring that all caliper pistons are moving freely.
Parts which I have not replaced are:
1) front and rear upper and lower control arms ( I do know the front passenger dust boot is torn on the upper control arm, all others appeared to be sealed, without excessive play. )
2) Rear tie rod ends
3) subframe mounts
4) main torsion bar bushings (if this is even a replaceable bushings, not the flat plastic pieces.
