Hi All,

I replaced the radio in my W163 ML320 with a modern head unit and every thing was fine for over a week. Suddenly, the AM stations were full of static and not hear able, the FM stations seem to be unaffected so far. Anyone ever have this problem and how did you fix it? I am thinking that the AM antenna is maybe not getting power?

If you installed an aftermarket unit then we cannot help you as you will have to re -track your installation.

 

OK, I know what I did but have no idea how to fix it. I installed a wireless rear camera in the new unit. When I wired in the receiver to the radio I powered it from the antenna "turn on" wire, this is the only thing I can think of that would have affected the antenna.

I have re wired the camera receiver to an appropriate source but still have a problem receiving AM stations. FM stations come in fine and scan finds many stations in my area. It appears that the AM portion of my antenna system is not working.

Can anyone suggest a solution for this problem? THANKS
