Something running when engine off and key out
My 2002 ML320 has a weird thing going on.
When you shut the engine off and remove the key there is still something running in the engine bay. I traced it to the box behind the fuses.
This looks to be some sort of air handler for the emissions system. It says that there is an air pump in there.
Could this be the air pump not shutting down for some reason. The noise keeps up for hours. If I put the key in and switch to pos 2 sometimes it stops sometimes not. Does not seem to run the battery flat.
Is this normal? And if not how do I cure it. I checked and there are zero fault codes.
This car is new to me so I am not experienced on what the car should do.

The noise you are hearing is the fan in the fuse box. It is supposed to run after eng. shut down, but only for a few mins.
If it continuously runs, the relay which controls it (K19) is probably faulty.
Remove K19 and swap it with K7. Do not insert K19 in the place of K7.
Post back with results.
