My Warranty is almost up. Got a few Questions???
Hey everyone, I'm almost at 50k miles and was wondering if there was anything in particular that I should tell the dealers to take a look at or anything I should watch out for.
I'm sure many of you are over the 50k mile mark and I was wondering if you all have run into any noteworthy problems that you have run into after your warranty expired.
Are there any extended warranties available? If so, are they worth it?
Any input would be appreciated guys.

if you haven't had your fuel sender unit replaced, tell them that the gauge doesn't register full everytime after a fill up...thats a known problem with the ML's.
that's the only big common thing I can think of now. Just go over the car with a fine comb and pick out things that don't look right or whatnot and have them replace it.
we haven't had problems after our warranty was up, almost a year now and 10k miles over. Just the normal maintenance and that's it.
even before our warranty was up, we had little problems such as rattling, fuel sender and some plastic pieces in the cabin but nothing mechanical gone wrong.
there are extended warranties available, some better than others. if you haven't had much trouble during the warranty period, it may be a waste to get one because if you've made it this long without things going wrong, chances are your probably going to have little/minor trouble in the future. BUT if you've had lots of problems and lots of things replaced, chances are they may fail again and cost you big time.

I know people in the past who have asked their local MB specialist (not a dealer) to give the car "the once over" to make sure there are no problems before the warranty finishes. Only cost 1-2 hours labour.

Check the convertors although you have 80K mile warranty on them.

Extended warranty.
Hey,
I was in the market searching for extended warranty and learnt a whole deal about them. If you are a California resident - you want to either buy a Mechanical breakdown insurance on the internet or go to a dealer and buy a service warranty from them.
the best MBI i found on the net was a company called warranty direct.com
I also came to know that Diamler Chrylser sells warranties which are applicable for Benz cars also - but the benz dealers dont sell them - the chyrsler, dodge or jeep dealers sell them. DiamlerChrysler has a web site for extended warites - to give you an idea of how much it should cost.
The only issue with DiamlerChyrsler is that they have only a 3 year 75K warranty and warrantydirect has a 5 year 100,000 warranty.
So still thinking about it and will buy one today or tomorrow.
Let me know if you come across any other info.

Thank you for your valuable information. I finally got my extended warranty through my local credit union. The price is $2,175 for 4yrs/100k miles with $50 deductible and I think this is the cheapest I could find. Warranty direct quoted me at $2,800 for the same warranty with $100 deductible. I think they do sell to noncredit union as well, you guys can check it out at www.autoexam.com.
