Key fob question
Hey guys got a question about a keyfob. 2001 ML55AMG Looks like batteries were dead for a long time and lock unlock function don't work. I got new batt and still not working. Tried to sync in with the car by putting the key in turning to position 2 then take the key out, wile holding lock button pressed unlock 5 times and id didn't work. Replaced K15 relay and f42 fuse is ok. i do have another key fob did the same thing and same result. Any ideas?

humm. not good. Had a similar issue with the w210. Was able to obtain a replacement fob from the dealer.
However, for the w163s, read here. :

I wonder if locksmith would be able to do it?! But i still think it can be programmed somehow just need to figure out why its not syncing. I wonder what receives a signal from the keyfob inside of the car?

Engine starts car drives just fine, no problems at all. But the lock unlock function doesn't work, would be nice to have it working.

Yes few months back i got the truck and i didnt bother checking in to it, was busy and it was cold. My other ML55 i am restoring same thing, remote doesn't work after i install new batteries but i didnt try to sync on that one yet. Both came from auction and bothe had main battery dead, i got new batteries for them both, and both were jumped at least 3 times.

As for having to jump the MLs three times, if you leave the truck dormant, it will drain the battery. Every time the battery gets drained, it becomes partially damaged.

If you are not going to drive it or run the eng. for a period of time, then you must disconnect the NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE while the key is not in the ign.

Jumping the battery is also dangerous with an ML, especially if the key is in the ign.

Yes the last part was kinda confusing. So after i release the lock button after pressing unlock five times, what do i do?? press unlock or unlock trunk wile holding lock again? or just press any of the 3 once?

Ok i tried the one im restoring yesterday and it worked perfect. I will try one more time on the one that didnt work the first time. But im pretty sure that i did it the same way and it didnt work, will let you know tomorrow

Ok, i tried again and it did program but only synced for one time, but right rear door lock unlock few times, i guess they call that machine gun locks. I sold the truck, and new owner said he could program the fob by pulling the fuse F5 wile the car runing.

That wasn't for the fob, pulling fuse f5 is for resetting the gas guage.

Hey Nick, nice to see you here you can add that you got a hell of a deal on that truck
Check this link i think this fixes that problem and its not very expensive. i think i will do that to my truck just get the transponder chip out of my oem fob and just glue it on the inside of the ignition switch. And cut the 2 keys at locksmith.

Oh i misunderstood about the resync, from the text looked like u were its resynced now,so i thought u meant fob.
