Did technician wreck my eletrical system? :O

I have a 2006 ML 350 w/about 110K miles. Last week I left the key in the ignition and the battery died (not sure if it was in on position or not). So insurance company sent out road side assistance yesterday to jump it with a portable jumper cable. The tech connect the cable to a metal post underneath the hood. Prior to tech doing this, the car's radio played, and my phone was charging as I waited for his arrival. Once he connected cable, NOTHING works now and I can't even turn the key in the ignition to on. I called hubby and he says battery is actually located underneath front passenger seat. We tried to move the seat forward but even the power seat wouldn't work.

Could the tech have done great damage by connecting the cable underneath the hood and destroyed my entire electrical system? Should I be worried. Called insurance company and they will send a tow out tomorrow to take car to shop.

No, he jumped the truck in the proper manner. If you left the key in the ignition while he jumped it, then that is the cause of your problem
