ML55 - Rear Shocks Question

Hi,

Decided to replace my rear shock/struts on my ML55, but unsure what parts I would need. I looked at a few places online and found W163 parts for $300-500 for the pair, that lists most W163 models except mine. Then I called a local scrap yard and asked and they said the ML55 have a different strut/strut setup altogether, and not compatible with the 320,430,500's etc.

According to EPC the correct one I need is 163 320 21 13, (based on my VIN 4JGAB74E1YA180538) but if I take that MB part number and google it, I see shock/struts listed under that part number as again compatible with 320,430,500 etc and again not listed as supported for my ML55.

If anyone could shed some light on this I would be most appreciative.

The scrap yard and EPC are correct. ML55s have stand alone struts.

Thank you, would they be compatible with others in the 163 class? for instance, I searched online for 1633202113 and i am getting some pages that lists the bilstein etc, as only compatible with the ML55, but then others like the below one from amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J5SXBJK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=sfab-benz-list-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00J5SXBJK https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J5SXBJK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=sfab-benz-list-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00J5SXBJK

On that seller's page, OEM part numbers they list are 163 320 05 13, 163 320 18 13, 163 320 24 13, 163 320 23 13, 163 320 21 13 meaning they are compatible or same?

I read somewhere else that the ML55 sits a bit lower than the rest in the class, but in my case i am actually putting in spacers ontop, so if the other product numbers are same, just different height, that might be even better? any thoughts on that?

I just said that they are stand alone struts. What is it that you do not understand?

moemoe,
Contact the seller and give them your vin # to verify fitment.
Any reason why you would want to use a spacer on your ML55? These ride 1" lower than the other same year models.
