ML 320/350 Potential Purchase

Hi everyone, I'm new here as I am seriously considering an ML. I found a 2002 ML 320 (with the sport package, Xenons, heated power seats, Bose stereo) for $25,900 with 39,500 miles. Also, I found an 03 ML 350 with the Xenons, Inspiration package and the heated seats with 8300 miles for 35k. Are these good deals? I appreciate your input as I would much rather pay 25k, but I like the feel of the 3.7L 350 and the security of basically having a full warranty remaining on the car. Howeve,r the 320 was off an employee lease, with all scheduled maintenance done.

2003 ML 500
The maintenance is good for 4 years, not 5! The miles part is accurate...50K, if you haven't hit your 4th year first!

The extra power of the 350 doesn't come in at the low end. So it's not that terribly significant in day to day commute. Assuming you drive moderately (12-15K/year), the ML320 is not a bad deal. The sports package is pretty exclusive, you still have some portion of the factory waranty/maintenance plan and you can get xtended warranty for either. On the other hand, you'll quickly run out of factory warranty and based on the MLs reliability history, that may cost you dearly. The big advantage of the 350 is the mileage!!! You have almost full factory warranty/maintenance plan with the 350. All you loose is the looks of the sports package. Again, based on the ML's history, that extra 10K may buy you a lot less headache. Remember, if someone traded it in, they most likely must not have likes something about it, so take the most warranty you can get.

Well, I'll be driving the 320 here in an hour or so. But it is the whole short term cost vs. long term benefit type thing. Sure the 350 is more, but I've got more warranty. Hence, more monthly payment but most likely less future cost and headache. The opposite is true on the 320, though it may turn out to be very reliable. I hate deciding!!

You can't go wrong with the 350. That'd my choice!!! Yes more monthly payments. But, again, based on the ML's warranty repair history, that extra monthly cost may buy you well deserved peace of mind in warranty repairs, because, it's more than likely that you'll experience some "issues" with either vehicle.
