Help with 1999 ML430 O2 sensor replacemet

I just replaced Bank 1 sensor 2 and Bank 2 sensor 2 and reset the codes. Within 5 miles, check engine light is back on with the same P0141 and P0161 codes

Does anyone know if the computer needs to be reset after changing these or the negative cable removed??? I have NJ inspection in a few weeks.

Thanks in advance..........Mike

Hello, you will need to erase codes and should be good to do. I had one sensor go out and once i replaced it I erased the codes.

Thanks.......That is all I thought had to be done. But after replacing, the codes quickly came back. Someone mentioned the ECU may also need to be reset.

Otherwise, I have installed 2 bad sensors, or something else is the problem Don't know what the next step to check is.

Check the O2 sensor wiring as far as you can.

The supplier is double checking compatibility and will get back to me.

I am hesitant to reset the ECU...............don't want to loose key fob access and or any other coding info
