2003 ML320 -BRAKE light on, and stuck in 1st gear

I recently bought a 2003 ML320 an the dash showed the check engine light and ABS related lights. I scanned it for codes and i had codes for the left rear wheel speed sensor, the 02 sensor, and the EGR. I replaced all of those as well as doing a full tune up and air filter, but now when I drive, as soon as I'm about to go Into 2nd gear (around 10mph), the BRAKE light appears and the car starts beeping, and will not allow it to shift into 2nd. As soon as I come to a stop, the beeping stops. The code it reads now is P0500 for vehicle speed sensor A. This car does not have the typical brake light switch under the Dash panel below the Sterling wheel, because the end of 2003 production removed it from there. Due to this, it is hard to find good advice on the internet because everyone just suggests replacing the brake light switch. We have already tested the electrical on several parts that we think could be related, but have recently discovered that the parking brake doesn't stop the car when it's engaged. Any help would be appreciated!

Do you have a W163 specific code reader?

I think, you will have to read the ABS/Traction Control Module extended codes out to understand what might be going on...there could be additional codes stored in there.
The P0500 is a more generic code that says, vehicle is having trouble understanding vehicle speed.

The codes from the BAS/ESP/Traction Control module will read Cxxxx.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/iCarsoft-...0aAhZ9EALw_wcB

For instance, this code reader is able to read the BAS/ESP/Traction Control module...and reveal C codes...you need something like this...

Code P0500 has nothing to do with the brake light switch. It refers to the left rear wheel speed sensor not sending a CAN signal to the ESP Cont. Module.

Look for code C1102 in ESP Module.

Related??

Would any of these codes cause the BRAKE light to illuminate and beep at 10mph, and get stuck in 1st gear?? Seems so unrelated, but so do a lot of things in this car!! Ive heard from so many people that their car isnt pulling a code for the problem im having, so i dont want to get my hopes up that fixing these things will solve it.

FIXED!!

Fixed, Yay! I put it on a different scanner and got codes for both left AND right speed sensor this time, so I swapped out the right sensor with the old sensor (since everything worked fine with that one before I swapped it out, i just did it because I was replacing the left one), and it worked! Also, on the scanner before I changed the sensor back to the original one, it said I was going to 0 miles an hour when i was driving, so apparently the rear right speed sensor must control something very important to make it not want to shift!! Im thinking it was a faulty sensor from the factory, weirdly enough. Thank you all so much for your input and advice because I never would have thought to try a more equipped scanner for Mercedes!

You seem to have a seat belt issue going on as well...

Yes, for these older cars, if you plan to keep the car, invest in a Mercedes specific code scanner. They are well worth the investment.

The extended systems on these cars like SRS, ESP, MCS etc. are not part of standard OBD II.

Any control unit unit that pertains to the body of the vehicle, I believe throws Bxxxx codes. That’s the seat belt code that you are getting.

Cxxxx are chassis codes.
Pxxxx are engine codes.
