you can use dyes that they make that you put in your refrigerant that glow flourescent with a UV light, so you can put it in your car and drive around for a bit, then look around. never done this before, but i know its a method.
id say for starters to check your refrigerant level and if its low, just fill it back up and monitor it, seeing if your level stays constant. the fact that your air is not hot and is still blowing makes me think theres nothing mechanically wrong.

A real easy check is to make sure your outside temp. is correct at the instrument cluster. If the display says it is 30 degrees outside then your A\C wont get cold, the car thinks it is smarter than you; so check that first and then check your level next. Autogunner.

you probably already tried this, but another way is check the temperature dial and also try pushing the auto button on top of the AC OFF button.....our AC was not cool either so we jsut put auto....worked better....and also liek others said check the coolant

ahopeter, i know u have like 5 million different MLs and MBs lol, which ML is this (model year). The pre 2002 had a much weaker A/C system and would sometimes leak from a shrader (spelling?) valve. Ours had this problem as well as my friend's 00 ML430. After the valve was fixed and system was recharged, it worked pretty well.
