Gauges acting weird

This just started happening yesterday. 2000 ML320. Turn the car on and the temp, fuel and tachometer take about 5 seconds to activate. Turn off the engine and tachometer and water temp go down but the fuel tries to go down but keeps bumping up and down and makes a noise for 5 seconds and then settles.

Anyone seen this happen?

Remove the Inst. Cluster and then disengage the connectors and reinsert. See if that corrects the condition.

Removal of the cluster didn't solve it. Disconnecting the battery for a day did though. Thank you for your suggestion.

Then the codes in all modules must be read. If you do not have a scanner, get this one.
