Due to the cold my battery went dead, A passer by offer me a jump start hence i said ok, After 10 mins or so still no joy. I took out the battery and connect it to a battery charger, 7 hours latter battery fully charged. Now when turning the key in the ignition switch, I'm getting Start Error on the dashboard. The key remote opens the car, Windows work ok, Red led on the stereo comes on. I need to find the code for the stereo, All the dash lights comes on when the key in the ignition on position 1 and then goes Start Error before i turn the ignition to position 2.

I have a Mercedes-Benz 2004 M-Class 270 cdi

Please can anyone help me.

Did you by chance attempt to jump start with the key in the ignition?

The concern here is if you connected the two cars with the Key in the ignition - or you disconnected or reconnected the battery with the Key in the ignition - you might have "fried" that key.

If you have a 2nd key - try that..
