Throttle cable addressed again, fixed!
Got slow today at work, I pulled in my ML and did another oil change, fuel system cleaner, knocked dust out of air filter, topped off and inspected things, pulled codes (none), rotated tires again, and fixed that pesky throttle cable. I replaced it again, and on the way home it finally felt completely smooth! I lubricated the old one before replacing it, which made it "ratchet" far worse than it ever had before. At that point I tried another new one and am happy with the result. On the down side the tire edges are feathering quite heavily and I discussed replacements with my manager. I will have to see our SPOM about it, but remain optimistic about getting some help towards a set of michelins.

I am glad to hear the throttle cable replacement solved that annoying 'rough' throttle linkage problem.
I took my '04 ML350 in to the MB dealer with the same complaint and they claim they took apart the gas pedal assembly and lubricated the parts and the throttle cable. That did absolutely nothing to fix the annoying throttle linkage.
I will now demand they replace the cable.

Had the problem twicw with my 02 ML500. First time they replaced the cable, was OK for about 6 mos then the same problem. That time they replaced both the cable and the box on the firewall. Now its been fine for over a year and a half.

I have had a few cases of the pedal value sensor doing it, but more often its just the cable itself. I heavily lubricated it before replacing it this time, and it was absolutely horrible. It gave an awful sensation when pressing it and letting off. They apparently don't like lubricants! My dealer keeps cables in stock, so give it a shot, should fix her right up!
