Igniton key lost chip

I lost the little chip out of my ignition key . Is there any way to bypass it . Its an old 2000 with 250,000 miles on it so I don't want to get a new one and its stuck on my drive half way up a mountain. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Chip is for the immobilizer.
No way around it.
AND Key fobs are NLA for the w163s.
Your only option now is to obtain a valet key.
You will require proof of ownership to the dealership and possibly have the vehicle present (possibly... but may not due to the age of these w163s)
GL, keep us posted.

Owner drops the keyfob
It opens up and spills the beans.
Most owners are not even aware of the contents in a fob (other than the 2 CR batteries).

Solution?
Get a back up FOB and/or valet key while you still can for the W210s.
You never know.
Just ask any W163, R129, W140 member on this forum - NLA on FOB keys. End of Story.
Only Valet keys available.
