warranty question

Hi guys i have a 2001 ml320 with a warranty thats about to expire this dec 2004. I'll be planning to extend it. My question is...will the dealer still honor the warranty if I'm going to put aftermarket HID kit ??? Preferably the philips ultinin 6000k. Has anyone ever installed aftermarket HID kits on their MLs ??? Thanks guys.

of course... legally they cant void a warranty cause hid's... they can only void warranty work if they can prove the problem was caused by the hids. dont worry, youre in the clear.

ok I just got an email from the company I ordered the HID kit from. They said that It will be difficult to install HIDs my 2001 ml320 due to the wattage difference between halogen (55W) and HID (35W), M class' computer system will think one of your headlights is out and it will trigger flickering issue. I dont even know if my truck has this feature since one of my headlight piaa bulbs blue out (passenger side) and it didnt even warn me or anything. And they also said that I will have trouble fitting the connectors on the HID bulb through the H7 bulb clip I have on the truck. The hole on the clip is slightly
smaller than the connectors so I will need to extend the hole a bit........Anyone has this issue or has installed HID kits on their ML please help??????

actually ahopeter for some reason the 2002+ cars will blink the lights if a lower voltage is detected. You could install an inline resistor, but on a 2001 thats not needed. I personally would go with OEM xenons, you can find em for pretty cheap.

Al, my cuz has a newer ml... installed philips hid's, no flicker. my 04 has hids in the fogs... no flicker. i think it has alot to do with the installer and his experience level.

I picked the ultinons 6000k since I heard nothing but great things about them. I would go for the 4000k but read/heard the 6000k would give bluish/white look. Im still in thinking about the 2.

Could you expand on where and how much we're looking at for an OEM upgrade?
Does it has to be professionally installed or is it a DIY?
Thanks!
