a car that can't do the throttle reset.
why whats the problem? if your ml has suspension issues (which is common) they will swap them out.

I don't know what kind of tires your running, but I drove a '99 ML320 today with 102K on the ticker that had the Michelin cross terrains on it. I checked, the shocks look original, no history of replacement either. It rode awesome. Makes me want those tires even more!

Original shocks will be well-gone by 102k. I replaced my '98s at around 50k with Bilsteins and it made a very noticeable improvement in suspension control.

MY ML320 is a 2001 which has around 40k miles on it. It still rides great, reason im asking since on my other car which is a mazda I had the struts replaced around 45kmiles which im pretty sure had gone out earlier. I guess cant compare regular cars to luxury....

When you've replaced it, Was it at the dealer, under warranty? if it is, should I ask the dealer before my warranty goes out ? Sorry guys Just taking advanatage of the warranty, knowing how parts of euro cars are so expensive.

My ML has 99K miles on it and the shocks seem fine. They are not leaking for sure. I have Michelin Cross Terrrain on it now which have 51K miles on them and still have usable tread left.

My questions are:
How did you know your shocks were shock were shot at 50K and in need of replacement?

Do you have 16" or 17" wheels? Mine has 16" wheels and has always had kind of a cushy ride. I know shocks wear out slowly over time and it can be hard to know they are worn out.

The degrading of control over spring motion happens so gradually you may not notice it, as you say. But you will find the vehicle taking taking longer to settle after going over bumps and not responding as well to sudden changes in direction. The difference when replaced is dramatic. The Bilsteins I replaced the OEMs with may have a little more damping, as though.I have 18" wheels w/ 285/50s.
