Can't get in car (dead battery + something in door lock) (ML350 W163)
Hi guys, need some help here. Car has been sitting idle for quite some time. Thought I would run the engine as I had some time. Car wouldn't unlock and discovered something in the driver door lock is stopping the key going in all the way. So now I cannot open the bonnet/hood to charge the battery.
So far, I think I have a few options:
1. Remove obstruction from door lock: tried paperclip with the end at a 90 degree angle to "fish" out the object - no luck
2. Open bonnet from outside: no idea where to begin! - I think this would be the best approach as the driver door is positioned on a main road and quite risky!
3. Find another lock on the car: can't see anything other than driver door
4. Charge the battery by accessing some other wires underneath: happy to look at this if someone can suggest something
