Primary converters question

My 01 ML55AMG left primary converter got loose and started to rattle. Sounds pretty bad.
Any advice what should i do?
Thinking to take both sides out cut primary cats open, get them out and weld it back and use spacers on 02 sensors, leave secondary converters in place. I was wondering how would it effect the sound inside the car and using 02 sensor spacers would it work without triggering check engine light? what size spacers i would need and what would work good for this car? i knw they got all different sizes and with filters on them.
Or anyone have differed suggestion?
