Anyone have any ideas how an external AT cooler can be installed?

It already has a trans fluid cooler in the radiator, I guess if you want it cooler than that you could come off of them lines, but you dont want to get it to cool. Autogunner.

If you get one from a reputable shop, it'll have instructions. Usually, these are very easy to install. If you don't want to DIY, just take it to a shop. Keep in mind that this may void you warranty, if still active. Why would you want to do this anyway, with the ML? At 5Klb towing capacity, there's assured adequate cooling for the tranny via the radiator!!! Then again, this is a ML - sometimes its behavior is unpredictable.

Ithink I am going to leave it alone then. I like the ML to be my back up tow vehicle and for the Xtra cooling, was thinking about the cooler.

Although I was not towing (never have with the ML) and I didn't over heat it, my transmission desintegrated in downtown Toronto under a very light load.

My feeling about the ML 722.6 transmission CAN$4,000 later, is that it needs all the help it can get... If you decide to add a cooler, make sure that lines and connections to external cooler are top grade.
