ML430 steering issue
If the bubbles remain you must replace the reservoir and not the pump.
Dear Maj. Dundee - I would like to revive this thread. We had conversations a few years ago when I was having pump problems. As it turned out, I made a testing apparatus which determined the problem was in the rack. I replaced the rack and everything was fine - until today.
I was in a very tight parking spot and had to go back and forth to "wiggle" out. To do so, I had to turn the steering wheel lock to lock (softly - not hard lock) several times. I heard "funny" noises that I remember were steering related and then I felt the steering get very stiff. A few minutes later, all power steering was lost. I checked fluid level and it was a bit low but not by much.
So what do you think? Pump or rack? Thanks.
