Question Headlamp Install WIS

Hiya! Anyone have the service manual procedure to install headlamps for the 2003 ML350?

We recently replaced both and now I'm faced with fixing the alignment, which is wildly off. My issue is that, before fiddling with the aiming adjusters on the back, I'd like to know the correct positioning of the attachment nuts. There are three; two under a valence panel at the bottom of the headlamp and one on top. All are slotted, and the bottom two are on spring platforms. Curious to know if there is a procedure to centre the headlamp during installation. Thanks in advance :-)

Thanks very much for this. I was hoping for something on mounting the headlamps. Here are the slotted nuts I'm referring to (photo grabbed from the 'net). As mentioned, the bottom two are on spring perches and the top has an enlarged slot, so there is a great deal of adjustability built-in to the attachment of the headlamps. I was hoping for a procedure on how to correctly position the lamp during installation, before the fine aiming of the light beam via those rear adjusters featured in your attached PDF.

Great, that's it! "Align the lamp unit so that the distance of the cover to the bumper is even". I also expect you would adjust the entire headlamp assembly if the fine adjustment knobs aren't sufficient. Thanks again :-)

Applied Xpel to the headlamps and also yellow tint on the fogs after reviewing Daniel Stern's website on how crappy yellow bulbs are nowadays. The old girl is looking pretty good!

Edit: I found a never-used set of Osram Superbright 65W bulbs in the storage bin so they've gone on as well. Let there be light!
