I asked one of the sales men about the W164, he said people will be able to order in may, and they will be due for delivery in september........he did not seem to happy about it, but he REALLY praised the new V8 volve XC90.....
Only thing is my problem has a twist.
My BAS, ESP, ETS lights come on when its really cold outside. It only started happening a few weeks ago when the temp outside was below 30 degrees. I usually let my truck idle for a few minutes (5-10) before I start to drive. When the engine is warmed up I turn the heater fan on to postion 2 or 3. as I get going all these lights come on and the fan blower shuts off. When I finally get the truck up to about 15 to 20 mph then the fan kicks back in. Also my radio shuts off too and then kicks back on once I get up to speed. When this happens at night my luights are very dim and once I get up to about 15 mph the lights kick up to full brightness.
Sounds to me like I might have a dying battery or alternator?
Anyone?
I was told the alternator would run me $800, and thats a rebuilt one. My service rep said a new one would run about $1200!! Obviously I'm going with the rebuilt one!
Sucks but I have to get it!
Just out of curiosity....could I be killing my alternator with all the extra things I have on my truck? I have a 4 channel amp powering the speakers and a 2 channel amp for my sub (I only have 1 sub right now). I have fog lights and air horns also hooked up. I don't know much about how that stuff works.
I already replaced the battery in the ML about a year ago. I asked my service rep if I needed a new battery already...he was going to check into it. I was told by the guy that replaced my first battery that I should not hook up any more things to my battery...I was at the limit.
Oh well.......life goes on.
I still Love my ML.....even though its a money pit sometimes!!!
I shelled out the $800 for the rebuilt alternator last week. Now today after work all the lights came on again. It was very cold outside, but I let my truck warm up for almost 10 minutes before driving. I had the heater fan on setting 1 and when I turned my lights on the warning lights came on. As soon as I get driving and the truck gets up to around 20mph the BAS-ETS-ESP lights go off and my headlights come on in full force.
What is the deal here? I know it can't be the alternator already and the dealer said my battery was good!
trust me....I will be placing a very angry call with my service rep on monday morning.
I am steamed.

Just for grins, try revving the motor before driving off. Rev it to the level it would be at around 20 mph when the warning lights went off. See if that helps, it doesn't cost any $$$ to check it. Let us know if that helps.

Jerry

I will try that reving thing today after work. The odd thing is that it didn't do it this morning and it was even colder. Only difference is I waited until I was driving over 20mph to put on the heater and the radio. Damn it was cold! 17 degrees!
But no warning lights.....I love this truck, but I am starti9ng to hate the alternator and battery! LOL
I'll post later today after I see what happens.
My truck didn't die again....just the warning lights came on again.
I had the radio, amps and subwoofer for over two years now.
dealership is going to pick it up!
Sucks.
It has to do with the cold temp outside...I know it.
