MBE released a locksmith kit that enables regular mobile locksmiths to program new keys. It took me 15 minutes to get replacement remotes from a mobile locksmith in my area. They are identical to OEM.
Rather than modifying ECU or other system, I was happy to find it was a simple process.

There is a locksmith shop that advertises a ton of car keys. I wonder if I could go in there and have them program a new fob for me.
Right. Locksmith made it happen with a laptop and RF device placed on the drivers seat and ODBII plugged in. Didn't take long and remote worked flawlessly. I tried not to hover around but locksmith was happy to talk about the kit and how it's used. I was impressed by how smart and solid/secure it all was, the guy knew his stuff and the toolkit looked well engineered. Especially interesting because the MB dealership had said "impossible." All buttons function, it's great, I now have 3 working new fobs that are the same as the original, plus two secondary keys from MB. I took the battery door off my original and snapped it on the new one since original had the "star" logo. Other than that remotes are identical, though I used some super glue at the plastic shell's equatorial seam. No problem and I just did it to make it ultra durable and contain the force of the spring mechanism/ignition twist.
My strategy was call locksmiths in nearest urban center and any near places I travel to regularly so I could price shop. Vast majority said "no can do," so id just always ask "who can?" and eventually all roads lead to the few more high end automotive locksmiths who had the right toolkits. Best price happened to be closest to me.
Replacing the ML key fob is completely solved. A locksmith wanting to remove plastic covers or cut wires just doesn't have the right tool. It's not especially cheap to have done but probably 1/4 of what the dealership would ask if they could do it and its so nice to have new remotes.

The remotes for the ML 320 I just acquired were 24 years olld. The outside of the FOBs were in less than perfect condition. I found new fob shells on ebay, chnged the electronics and keys from the originals. Also found a 4mm mecerdes sticker / round stamped alu. black with the MB star in sliver amd 3M stickey on the back. I placed them on the back sides of the fobs. I changed both battries and re synced the fobs to the 320. they arent the better quality as the original but for 31
usd I have a functional pair of fobs that look original and function as new.

Do you know if your locksmith can work on cars newer than 2016? All my local Phoenix locksmiths say they can program older cars but not my 2018 GLC 300.
As replied to you privately, I'm still waiting to get the equipment. Then it's mostly a hobby and helping out people with the ML and hopefully I can get enough takers to cover the cost of the equipment.

I am in Toronto, Canada. ANy recommended locksmith who can program FOB for a 2016 GLE 450 AMG Coupe ?
This seems to be the solution to the problem I have. I have a 2003 ML 350 with ONLY one key (Picked it up at auction).
The Local Locksmiths were able to 1. Cut a new key. 2. Change the electronics inside of it to match the ignition (All of them start)
But No Joy on the Door locking/Unlocking. The key fob has all the inidicated controls, but none will respond.
THE Locksmith's response? "The car is too old. Pay me."
