NO, it's not an FM mod. Call them up for more info.

If you buy one off eBay, you will need to make sure that you get the proper bracket for your car.

MBenzNL has the complete CD changer, bracket and cartridge for your vehicle. Around $500. Takes 15 minutes to install (includes instructions, I believe).

Aftermarket cd changer install, slick!

I too was wanting a cd changer for our 99 ml430. autotoys sells a 8 disk changer (2 more than stock MB changer) that adapts to the stock Bose stereo. For $250 some odd dollars its a great solution, easier to load than the stock unit. check it out.

Panasonic DP88 CD Changer in 99'ML430

Yes I did install it. I don't have the specific product number of the kit, but, here's some detail. The kit came with a Panasonic DP88 8 disk changer, 2 mounting brackets, a Blitz safe adaptor thing that connects the changer to the already existing MB cable running from the stereo. Honestly took less than 1/2 hour to get it in and playing cds. Now since the deck has controls for only 6 disks and the changer has 8 it requires a weird combo of number pressing for getting to disk 7 and 8, but its no big deal. If you call auto toys and give the description of the items I'm sure yhey can help you. When I called they new immediately what I was after and set me up! If it were me I would inquire about an updated changer that supports mp3 format

Panasonic 8-disc CD changers do not work on 2001+ M-class. It turns out the CD changers that MB supplies for the US-spec 1998-2000 M-class are Panasonic units. 2000 cars with MCS can use fibre optic changers, but require wiring. 2001+ are all prewired.

The changers are not on the mbenznl.com site because of the limited availability. If someone wants one, they can mail steve@mbenznl.com and ask Wanda for the changer and she can get one out to you. Just tell her I sent you.
