Coolant Type

Hello, is the MB coolant a must have? Anyone here used after market coolant like prestone or any of the other major brands?

I'm sure it's possible, but why? Coolant is cheap and you don't need to change it every year. If your vehicle is under warranty, I would stick with OEM fluid.

You can usae Zerex G 05. It's the same thing as MB fluid, it is approved for use by MB in their cooling systems, and it is cheaper.

yes, the MB approved is a must-have. The Zerez G5 is the identical antifreeze to the mercedes and quite a bit cheaper.

Whatever you do.....do NOT use Dex-cool extended life coolant. There have been numerous complaints/lawsuits regarding this stuff.

Two gallons of G5 will be plenty for a 50/50 mix and some left over........
