Angry ML 500 Gas mileage

What gas mileage is anyone getting on an 04 or 05 ML500? I am achieving around 12.5 MPG in suburban driving and 15 MPG on the interstate at about 75MPH. Thought that I would achieve 2-3 more MPG. Thnks.

Did your mileage improve after the breakin period or was it always 19-20MPG on hiway?

Yes, about 2 mpg better after break-in. Still, the 500 loves to burn fuel!

12.5 or so city, up to 21 on the highway with 93 octane fuel. Using 91 octane netted a drop to 17-19 highway. A 15 MPG ML500 is not unusual, it has a lot to do with tire pressures, driving habits, and octane. Cold weather will keep the engine in warm up mode longer, and it will use a substantial amount more fuel.

Never really differentiated between city and highway since I haven't been on a highway trip lately. Currently I am getting 16mpg with combo driving. I am heading to San Diego (roughly 350 miles from LV) and will let y'all know what I get for that highway jaunt.

Cheers,
Dell
