Looking for Power Steering Pump info (W1630

I'm interested in knowing if anyone know's where to find a rebuilt power steering pump for a 200 ML320 as well as the proceedure to replacing it?

I know that the hose clamp has been a recall issue, however now our pump seal has blown and I'm sure that MB dealer will give us the song and dance. I'd like to know the particulars to replacing it and also if I can find someone other than the dealer for a rebuilt unit.

The failure you describe has nothing to do with the recall. The recall only covers the lower power steering hose. They did not extend coverage to every other part of the steering system. There is no song and dance, your car is out of warranty and costs of repair are now your responsibility.

Agree,

However, had the hose not leaked, then the pump would not be an issue and the MB dealer wouldn't have to give me a song and dance.. I know the warranty statues and dealer defense position all to well.

Not wanting to deal with the dealer I'd like to fix the problem myself, hence the inquiring into where to find a rebuilt pump, other than the dealer and if anyone knows and the particulars into the repair itself.

Thx..

I don't follow your train of thought at all..... How does a leaking pump have anything to do with a leaking hose? There is no song and dance, the two are simply not related.
