FYI........on my 99 ML430/210,000 miles....I noticed a leak at the junction of the lower p/s cooling hose which attaches to the radiator just below the upper radiator hose with a regular screw-type clamp.

This is the hose for which a recall was issued a couple of years ago. At that time, I took the ML in and they replaced the hose clamp with one that was of a better design, but did not replace the hose itself. After noticing the leak I started pricing the hose and getting it replaced. The cheapest I found was $200.00 including labor. One shop suggested revisiting the dealer.

This I did..... and amazingly enough, this morning they replaced the hose and changed the p/s fluid for the princely sum of $000.000 !!

Surprised the heck out of me..particularly with the mileage. I'm thinking if you have ANY issues with this hose, check with the dealer first..it should be covered. I must say I was very impressed with Atlanta Classic this time.ML was ready at the time promised and thoroughly washed......

 

I recieved a letter from Mercedes a while back stating that the power steering hose problem/recall is covered for ten years.
