How do i better my handling on 2000 ml320

Asking board for advice on how to better handling on 2000 320 ml. Should i change sway bars, has anyone done this if so did he or she notice big difference. Is there any other mods i can do without changing springs.

Thanks,

George

Lots of things you can do but first start by driving a ML320 with the ML500 size tire - i.e., a 350SE, or the 350 Inspiration. You may even try a 500, but the power factor will bias the test. What you'll find is that the larger tire (even still on a 17inch rim) gives you a handling advantage. So, my advice, start with a tire/rim package update. I think that a 19inch will be the best balance.

If that doesn't make you happy, then start thinking about springs - but be careful not to lower the truck, it's a truck afterall, and you may create handling problems than make it better.

I'll keep the sway bars last.

I agree with Darkmann on wheels/tires. I've had 18's on my '98 since new 1/98) w/ 285/50 Yokohama AVS/STs and they help a lot. You are probably in need of shocks by now, as well; I'd suggest a set of Bilsteins will firm thing up a lot.

The most effective way to improve the handling is def rims and tires, I put a 20” with bigger tires and 20mm spacer each side on my ML55 and the ride is night and day. The sidewalls on the stock 320’s tires are too high and it can’t hold on corner. And changing the rims make it look much better, the best upgrade for both ride and look in one shot.

Somehow, my 55 is gone and I have my 20” sitting in my garage. Feel free to offer if anyone interested

How are your shocks? I'm guessing if they're original that they're shot.
I put Bilsteins on two different ML's lately, huge difference!

It looks like the OEM shocks are KYB? It that right? I see that stamped on my shock.
