Repaint bumpers...?

Hey I was in DC last weekend and dinged the corner of my front bumper on a rock wall... (don't ask) just enough to flex the plastic so that the paint cracked/flaked off. Anyone had their bumpers repainted...?? Anyone know how much it might cost...??

$1500 to repaint the bumpers..

That's what I was quoted...anyways, I ended up buying a touch up kit for about $30...and DIY the touch up job.

It came out nice, but keep in mind, its a lot of work - you are probably looking at a full weekend to complete the job with the bondo, sanding, primer, paint & clearcoat....and yes, you will need a covered garage to do all of it..

Thanks... I'll have to look into the touch up.

did the paint "crack" or did the bumper itself crack? If the paint basically chipped off in one particular spot, you can see if a bodyshop can "touch up" that area. It may not look perfect, depending on the size of the chipped area, but it would be much cheaper and would look pretty decent.

Nah.. the bumper has a small scrape in the plastic and the paint seemed to "flake" off in that area. I'm actually amazed that the paint seems to be just floating on the bumper and not bonded to the plastic. Strange.

Check out these bumpers. I never liked the wrap around ones. These ones stay at the bumper line. They come finished in black which would look pretty good on a black truck...!!! Pretty cheap too.

a picture would really help, but from what you've said it sounds like a decent body shop would be able to fix that spot without repainting the whole bumper.

Shouldn't be nearly that much. I would say $250 - 350 ea. at a good shop.
