MCS retro fit Question

I did an extensive search and could not find an answer. I have a non bose 99 ML320 and I can now get a MCS A163 820 30 86 Headunit. I want to know if this MCS unit will work with my factory changer and if I need to do anything other then remove and reconnect the harness. I found that the MCS A163 820 21 86 unit is plug n play but I could not find one in this model number. thanks...

The only 2 MCS units I know for sure that will work with your factory CD Changer are 2000 ML MCS unit
MB Part #
A163 820 04 86
or
A163 820 21 86

The unit you listed A163 820 30 86 may work but unless someone has tried it, we won't know for sure. Just make sure it came from a 2000 ML since 2001+ ML's went to F/O and they def. won't control you CD Changer.

Here are my retrofit instructions in case you don't have them:
1998 & 1999 MERCEDES ML MCS/DVD NAV RETROFIT

thanks Benza, i appreciate your response. Is everything else pretty much plug n play as for the power connection and speakers? And do you know if the MCS will play without the Bose amp? thanks

Yes, it's all plug and play. Are you hooking up NAV? Because if you don't get the euro parts for the NAV you will lose AM radio after installing the MCS.

thanks! I'm mainly concerned about hooking up my IPOD. I actually live within a few miles of Dension so I may go that route. As for the NAV, if i find a good deal on the parts I will add that later. For now i want to dump the Blaupunkt Headunit- although it sounds great and has an aux input. IMO, it just doesn't look right with a singled din radio, non matching color scheme and a open pocket underneath. Thanks again for the help. I will post a follow up on the install.

Other than loosing the AM, I should be able to plug the stock plug into the back of the MCS radio right? Or do i still need the Gerate Adapter? thanks
