Hope my new ML won't be a piece of crap!
I'm the one who started the previous "Piece of crap.." thread.
Went to my closest dealer Saturday and drove a 350. Really liked it. However when it came down to money they'd only give me 8k off list for my MDX, which has a blue book of about 13k. So we said we'll think about it and went to the next dealer about 50 miles farther. On the way my wife started reading about the 500 in Motor Trend which talks about how it's a better buy because of all the standard equipment which is optional on the 350. When we got to the dealer we drove a 500. Not only did it have more git-up-and-go but it had a more Mercedes like feel to it. I asked the salesman to have his people take a look at my MDX and see what they'd trade for on the 500 and the a 350 they had there also. They gave me 14k off list on either one. Needless to say we drove home in the 500. It's silver with black interior and has the lighting and audio packages. It might have some other also but I'm still in shock and can't remember what it is.
Although my MDX was worn out, the 500 drives and rides so much smoother and quieter. The audio is unbelievable.

Congrats. It definitely pays to shop around.
I traded my ml 5 months ago and got offered a $4000 drop from blue book from one dealer and got $1000 above blue book from the next. I wonder what some dealers are thinking!

Drove the 500 on its first long trip last weekend from Nebraska to the twin cities. It actually got slightly over its advertised hiway mileaqge of 19 mpg. With the big fuel tank it lets you go quite awhile without stopping. The only thing that slowed us down is that we're not ready to eat in the vehicle yet so we had to stop for meals.
