2006 ML 500 and 2006 SLK 55 AMG
There is no color called titanium rain. Do you mean alpine rain? If so, it has always been scheduled for August production. The brochure even shows delayed production on this color.

What are you really talking about?

I really think the "delay" he is talking about is the one experienced in May that set orders back by about a month. The Alpine Rain information he is relating is referring to the original delay for this color and scheduled for fall production. I don't think anything has changed from what we were already aware of (at least I hope not.)

My interest in the ML is because I have a R Class on order with Alpine Rain and my build is the first decade in September. So what happens with the ML is related to the R Class also.

Actually, no, that is not quick. Of course, a weekend was in there. The MBUSI site has this information for the W163 production:

It takes under 22 hours to build the M-Class

3.3 hours in the Body Shop
11 hours in the paint shop
1.5 hours to travel from Paint Shop to the Assembly Line
4.4 hours at the Assembly Line
Approx. 1.5 hours at the Shipping Line

New "iimproved" production scheduling

My salesperson told me that starting today, the Netstar system will only show the month of scheduled production, not the third of the month as before. I guess they are getting more "wiggle room" at the expense of the customer.

2006 ML 500 and 2006 SLK 55 AMG
Thanks for the info. As I've mentioned before, we also ordered the SLK 55 AMG at the same time. It's made in Germany and sounds like it will take forever to get here. I've actually stopped asking my salesperson about delivery dates. I think it might end up being a X-Mas present. So, my paradigm is slightly different. The ML seems quick compared to that. But, based on your info, I left a message for my salesperson to check on my ML 500 production/delivery schedule.

The delay was because of a combination of paint problems (dealers initially only received Black and Silver), power steering hose clamps (some still come in without the new clamp), and QC for rattles and what not....

update 6/8

Well again, following in Greg's footsteps, its my turn to report. My status as of Tues, 6/7 was B4a. That is one of the new codes and means production is to start within 2 days at which time it turns to B5 status.

Now my dealer received another new ML this morning and its history was:
B4 - 5/20/05
B5 - 6/2/05
arrival at dealer - 6/8/05

The long timeframe between late May and final production is when all the problems were happening.

If the above holds true I should have my ML within 7-10 from now at least.

Dealer will notify me when it reaches B5 status.

Congrats! You'll probably beat me because it takes an average of 17 days from the release to carrier to reach my dealer in Portland.

Great news Jack...!!! I love that delivery time from B5 to Dealer of 6 days. That has good vibes for a September build of my R...:-)

A typical MBUSA response Greg. If they were really concerned they would have a procedure to identify your order and give you a specific answer instead of a nice bunch of nothing. This is not new...I have dealt with them since the 1970's and nothing changes. I still like their products and would not drive anything else, but there Customer Service needs a new model or a 2006 "facelift."

Question Paint problems?

I heard that the EPA wasn't happy with some paint process using the water based paints and emissions or something--anyone heard anything about that?
