22x10 Wheel Question

Does anyone know the best size tires to use with 22x10 wheels? I see some people are using staggered configuration. I'd like to get away from it so I can rotate them. Is this possible?

I'm debating whether to get the Brabus Monoblock or Antera Type 341. Any suggestions? What is the price difference? Which one is a better make?

Sure could use some vital info. I've been itching to get them but don't know how they will look, especially the big gap in the wheel well. The pics I saw in this forum doesn't have a good angle.

Does the air suspension package lower the car? I see some pics in here with the air suspension option and mine doesn't look that low.

Thanks in advance.

Ben,

With 10" wide wheels I prefer at least a 285, however the closest to stock OD (29") currently available would be 295/30-22 (Pirelli Scorpion Zero Assimetrico) at 29.3". You will need to verify these will fit given the offsets of the wheels you select, especially in the front and with Airmatic.

I prefer the looks of the Brabus, but it's all personal taste. There will be more options soon (Lorinser, etc.).

The air suspension will lower 15mm (0.6") in Sport mode. If you want to go lower, Brabus (and maybe others) will offer a lowering module for a good chunk of chage.

Greg,

Thanks for the info. I don't have Airmatic. Does that mean I shouldn't have problems with rubbing in front (295/30 R22) given the offsets are correct?
Also, how will the gap in the wheel well look (front and back)? I realize the overall diameter is almost the same, but will the low profile tires look funny with that gap? I guess it will at least look better than stock (255/50 R19).

p.s. The Brabus Monoblock is more expensive because it is lighter compared to the Antera

I can't answer the clearance question until we get more data--I suggest consulting the wheel manufacturers as to what size tires will work with their wheels. The stock 255s are definitely a step backwards in appearance from the W163 which had 275s in later versions.

Personally, I think 20s would be optimum for a street performance rig, but that's just my opinion. The super low profile tires do not seem right on a truck, and do not look good unless it is lowered, IMO. One report says the ML63 will come with 295/40-20s. 20s have less unsprung weight than 22s, and more and less expensive tire selections, as well.

FYI, Brabus has a lowering system consisting of 4 shocks and 4 springs for $1595.00. Installation is around $300.00. If you have Airmatic, it will cost you $1695.00. It will lower by 2". They claim the ride will be more firm and body roll will be reduced, yet it won't be uncomfortable nor bumpy. Perhaps they didn't go lower since it can damage other parts in the long run. They said you can put a deposit now and the parts will be here in 4 weeks.

Who were you talking with? Brabus only sells through authorized dealers, correct?

Spoke with Andreas from Brabus. I realize Brabus only sell through authorized dealers. That's why he referred me to a local authorized dealer here in San Francisco, CA.
