W164 AUX / MP3 input socket in glovebox (Euro)
Once you have removed the radio / COMAND (see navigation retrofit thread) the AUX cable plugs into the main hold block of the body harness and this one block attaches to the head unit.
Items needed.
--------------
- AUX cable
- 12 pin housing (same as C2 but shorter)
- MQS connector for 12 pin housing
- 4 MQS crimp pins
The connector clips into position very easily and quickly.
Remove cover panel (18mm velvet covered plug) from inside of the glovebox. With radio remove there is ample space to feel the location for the AUX plug to be inserted.
Clips into place the same way it does in all cars with the hole premade (same way as C-class). The actual pinout location is in the same position as that for the C-class also (in Euro models).
Should be a 15 min mod with parts in hand.
TR = Shield, BK = black. YE = yellow, BN = brown.
================================================== ====
Or you can just order this part ....... 164 540 65 07 (W164 AUX cable)
not valid for Japan.

In the Euro head unit the AUX function is available when the AUDIO button is pressed.
In the Euro radio the AUX function is available when the CDC button is held for 5 seconds or until the AUX message appears on the display.

Here's the iPod installation guide for North American models which might be similar:

The part number I came up with for a Euro Audio 20 iPod kit for the W164 M-Class is B6 782 42 16. Hope this helps.

The AUX is a plug and play setup. It clips into the main radio connector and then clips into the hole under the CD-stacker.
The only trick one needs to know is how to installthe glovebox side as that connector has a keyed tension ring that slides into the AUX input once it is in place and that will hold it in firmly.
