Cant decide between Obsidian Black or Iridium Silver 2006 ML. Which do you think looks better after seeing in person?

Thanks.

Black or silver...

Here's Pewter next to BMW Titanium Silver (very similar to Iridium):

i wish they had Flint Grey. i know im going to buy it this year, and then theyll come out with a nice grey for 07. i have a silver benz now, so i dont know if i should match it, or contrast it. i was hoping the Obisidian was easier to keep clean? Can any owner comment on that? What about swirl marks on the Obsidian Black, any better then the Opal?

thanks everyone, this is a very hard decision, theres only 1 OB and 1 IS in the country that have the options i want, they're not even in the same state, so i have to make a decision quick. it will have full brabus with machined wheels if that changes peoples thoughts on the color

Hi Adam,

I wish they had a dark metallic grey too but they don't.

Like you I felt pewter was a shade too brown.

Have had two previous silver cars so opted for black.

Surely with new 'nano' paint/lacquer etc. it shouldn't be too hard to keep (reasonably) clean?.

Cheers,

I had an Obsidian Black '98 wagon. I was never satisfied with the look of the car. It never really looked black/black and showed swirl marks very easily.

If you want black and are prepared to keep it looking perfect, I would suggest Opal or just plain Black.

Obsidian Black. It may be hard to maintain, but it's well worth it in the end.

I like these pics. Looks like they came form a photoshoot. The Pewter looks nice in those lighting conditions.

I went onto the Build it yourself and found I am quite fond of this ML:
(Sorry, having trouble getting the pics in, so I only could make it a link)

Although they aren't full shots, it still looks nice.

I would get the Iridium Silver because every new ML i have seen is Black. Plus, black cars look bad when they get a small amount of dirt on it.

I'm the opposite of GSRJC - too many silver Mercedes out there. Too many silver cars period. I'd go with black given those choices. BUT, Apline Rain is a great color. I'll take pics when I get a chance. It was pouring rain when I picked it up and it's been raining every weekend since so I haven't had a chance for pics when it's clean :-( Plus, Alpine is going to to be a much rarer color than the others.

agreeing with you here on silver vs. black, plus i have a silver benz already myself. i had looked at the Alpine, no offense, but it looked a bit feminine. id like to see your picts tho. thanks!!

Obsidian Black.

My wife and I have been driving black cars since 1988.
When we buy a new car, we ask ourselves: which shade of black are we gonna take !

The black ML shows his beatiful lines more then any other color.

Absolutely agree on the silver. Both my 05 C320 SS and our 06 ML350 are silver and I am extremely pleased with not only the elegance of the color, but the fact that dirt does not readily show as it would on black.

Also keep in mind, minor scratches such as swirl marks from washing are essentially non-existant on silver. The light blue factory tint on the windows also effectively compliments the silver color.

Go silver dude!!
