ML350 with and without Airmatic

Have just test drived the ML350 with and without airmatic.
Noticed that the "front dipping" of the car is more sever for the one without airmatic. Any comment.

Is airmatic meant to be more safe for cornering and turning in high speed at the sport mode?

Also noticed that at the comfort mode, most road bumps are filtered.

Any comment?

Worth the additional money to have this extra option? Seen on the threads that some problems with airmatics did had been reported.

Although not directly repsonsive to your question, I do have the air suspension in my Cayenne S, and I think that if you have any desire for more performance oriented handling, the air suspension is a good idea. I enjoy switching from sport mode to normal or comfort on the highway. I'm not sure if the MB has adjustable ride height, but the Porsche air suspension does and that has helped with cargo loading and very low clearance parking garages.

question.

If the airmatic would be a "must" for the car's handling and comfort, wouldn't it be a standard feature on the higher range models (ML500 etc.) ?

I have Airmatic and I am happy that I did order it. As far as safety is concerned I believe that both versions (with and without) are equally as safe. The comfort factor and the ride factor are superior with Airmatic. As far as raising and lowering; you can raise the vehicle and it will lower a slight amount in sport mode. There is also an auto mode where it will go to the mode it feels it should be in. I use comfort around town and sport on the highway. I did get an airmatic fault warning but the system seemed to be working OK. This warning went away on its own after 2 days. I am having it looked at next week though. In the long haul it may be a maint. expense but that does not bother me at all.

I test drove ML350's with and without, and since I'm coming off of a C32, the airmatic suspension clearly improved the handling. I ordered one with it; expecting delivery in about 8 weeks.

Airmatic

I like it a lot---my wife drives in Comfort mode, I pefer Sport; Auto is a good compromise.

Airmatic is worth it!

Unless you are restricted by your budget Airmatic should be the first thing to add as an option! More comfortable, more sporty, more clearance, better looks depending on whether you want low and sleek or high and butch. It is amazing but on the highest level the ML looks really big! Attached are some pics for your enjoyment! I noticed that the vehicles with cornering lights have oval foglights and those without have round foglights! has anyone else noticed that?
