ML Grills

I'm new to the forum, and tried my best to do a search on this topic, but found no answer.

My wife and I just started looking at MLs, and I've noticed the three different type of grills... I was just wondering how you configure which grill you want.

We are looking for an ML 350, not exactly sure on the color yet (probably silver or pewter), but I'm pretty sure we want wood interior. Is the silver grill available on the 350 with wood? If so, I cant figure out how to configure it that way on the website.

Thanks for the help.

I think you get the silver grill with the appearance package.

Can you get the appearance package, and wood trim? It wont let me select the appearance package if I have wood trim, so I am guessing no.

from my experience so far, go to the dealership, they will have what your looking for, majority of the time the websites are very lacking it what exactly is available. You can buy the grill on ebay and install it yourself, probably cheaper if that's all your looking to modify.....

Go to the dealership, see what your options are, choose the one you want, get clarification on getting that grille in combination with different option packages -- and then go from there. My $.02

I have a black grill and I'm thinking about getting the silver one. On the pictures it looks quite fine but I don't know what will be the effect once installed. I have never seen a W164 with silver grill in real life so I can't really give a judgement.

Hi,

In the UK silver grill comes with Sport package (USA appearance equivalent I guess), SE model (leather and wood) gets a black grill with silver horizontal 'slats' and I guess base model gets black grill.

All these grills are (relatively) cheap plastic so if you get part silvered grill just get dealer to paint rest same colour.

My halfpennies worth

Chrome/silver grills only comes with 322 Appearance Package (USA). If you want wood inside (318 Trim Package), you will not see one with chrome/silver grills on a dealer lot nor order it through mbusa website. The only way you will be able to get wood and silver/chrome grill is to buy the grill and install it. Since you're not getting the full Appearance package, you won't get the other nice things that comes with it. It may be different if you're ordering it from the factory.

No. The app pkg comes with the aluminum interior trim and silver grill otherwise the black grill is standard on the 350. The 500 comes with the silver grill also.

Also on the other forum there was a good discussion on this.

Also, check eBay for auctions on converting the black grill to the mysterious black and chrome grill. Auctions

Good luck!

Last week I purchased a standard US 350 grill from another member and then purchased the chrome strips from eBay. I just installed the whole thing and I'm very pleased with the final product. Total cost was about $85. Please ignore the quality of the photos as I had to take them indoors in poor lighting.

Hi,

To your question, the Silver Grill comes standard with the ML 500. The ML 350 comes standard with the Black Grill unless you order the Appearance Package which does not have wood but Chrome Accents inside and outside plus Alcantara Leather Seats Inserts (a sort of suede that comes with Mercedes Pleather).

If you want an ML 350 with wood ...you won't get the silver grill...only the black one. (By the way there are two different types of wood, one comes with the Trim Package and one with the Premium Package...you will have to decide which one you like better).

Regarding the grill, you can buy some chrome strips and add it to the black grill...it looks cool...like an AMG grill...some people here have done that. I (since I have a silver ML) wanted the silver grill so I went to the dealer and bought it ...it cost me approx $300 (so now I have my black grill in a box).

Hope that info helps.

ML 320 CDI Sport AMG Package

Have ordered an ML 320 CDi Sport with AMG Styling Package. Am still trying to work out what grill I will get!

Does anyone in the UK know - better still does anyone have a picture of their own similar car they could post here?

$280 will get you the silver grill from the parts department. It's a 5 minute installation job - I think there were 2 screws and 2 plastic fasteners.

Hi the grill you'll get with the ML 320 CDI is the AMG grill which is black with chrome strips...pretty much like the one above (the pewter ML). You can also see it in the "Picture Thread" there are a ton of pictures and if I remember correctly there is a Black ML 320 CDI and it shows the grill (again-it is black with chrome strips).

From my experience, those that are so overtly critical of others are the idiots. If you don't agree with a post, ther are more mature ways of stating your opinion.

I agree with you 100% Greg. Also there is no such word as "stupidest".
