ML hybrid in 3 years?

According to the 4/06 Automobile magazine, "...Mercedes plans to roll out its hybrids from the top down, starting with the S-, ML- R- and GL-classes in 2009..."

Perhaps, but my thoughts are that a fuel cell vehicle may be the way to go. Believe MB is quietly working on this concept. I believe that hybrids are an interim solution.

MB has shipped about 60 fuel cell vehicles so far. They just gave some away to LAX for testing. Current cost is about $500,000. I don't think they will be mass produced before 2010 to 2012.

That's a very good question as the MB fuelcell vehicles probably will run on hydrogen. Here's a map of hydrogen fuel stations in California. So far hydrogen is much more expensive compared to premium gasoline.

The problems with hydrogen include the very high energy use to produce it, storage issues and distribution. All of these are being addressed to one degree or another.

Wow a V8 4.5 Litre engine with 7.7L consumption per 100km, thats impressive! My diesel 320 CDI uses appx. 14-15L per 100km Looking forward to these hybrids

No, this is the 3.5L V6 plus the electrics, not a 4.5L V8.
