Do You Actually Change the Oil Every 13,000 Miles?

Hi Guys...I know that's what MB recommends, but do you think its safe...that sounds kind of outrageous...should I do it at least every 6,000 miles...what are you guys doing?
Thanks.

My father has an ML320 and he follows the FSS guidelines. I have a 1998 C43 - mine gets an oil change every 5K miles.

Don't have a Mercedes right now...
Me too, I did my first oil change at 4500 miles. I heart a lot of cases where people has issues when they didn't change their oil frequently.

I change the oil in my vehicles at the midpoint between the factory intervals, so yes, about every 6-7k. If you get a suction device it makes it really easy to do yourself. See my post here:

Thanks for your responses guys. I took my car to the dealer today so they could replace my 6 CD Changer and the guy told me he would do the 1st service too...neither thing got done because they are shipping the CD Changer from the East Coast and it won't get here until Tuesday...but anyway...he reminded me of the 13,000 mile thing and I just wanted to ask. I know nothing about cars but I think that's just crazy...I think I'll do it every 6k-7k just to be on the safe side.

I always add an extra oil change to mine, too. Between the "manufacturer's recs" that is. Just makes me feel better. May or may not matter, and I rarely keep a car past 75-100K miles, but oh well.
