Rubensans, question about your doorpanels

How did you get the leather inserts in your door panel? They look good. What was the factory option code and name? It looks much better than the standard US door panel.

Here is a pic, it looks really good.

Those aren'ta factory option. He got those aftermarket some where but I don't know where. The GL has leather on the door panels, so it could maybe become an option on the ML or even standard in the future, who knows.

The door pannels are from Brabus.

You can get them to fit your interior.

They come with all the necesary to install them. You have to drill some holes so they can fix to the door. The result is completely stock and the leather is the same from MB.

They can me in all leather colors, or in all mbtex/alcantara colors.

I highly recommend them since the OEM door has too plastic.

Price 790€ for 4.

Best Regards.

BRABUS interior upgrade kit € 790.00
consisting of: 4 x door panel add-on covers
164-850-00 leather black
164-850-01 leather Alpaka grey
164-850-02 leather Cashmere beige
164-850-03 Alcantara/leather black for sports package option code 952
164-850-04 Alcantara/leather Alpaka grey for sports package option code 952
installation € 89.00

Yes, those are nice and should be stock.

The big expanse of plastic, especially in black, looks very cheap. I will probably get them at some point, though a grand or so is quite a bit for what they are.

It is amazing that Mercedes still seems to be trying to save some bucks when it comes to the interiors of the new Bama made vehicles. That door panel or something similar to it should be standard when you opt for the Trim Package. Gee whiz. It looks so much better than the stock door.

I agree that this cost cutting is very obvious. It would take maybe $50 to do some nice panels in the manufacturing process. The vast expanse of plastic looks out of place. The black marks very easily as well. I wouldn't be surprised if you see this addressed in a future upgrade.

Yeah it probably will be come facelift time, but it should be done as a running change IMO. It is these little things that MB seems to be still trying to skimp on when it comes to the Bama built models. The SLK, CLS and new S prove to me that MB knows what a proper luxury vehicle interior should be like, but this is unacceptable in the ML especially if you spring for the Trim Package. The entire seat still isn't wrapped in leather with this option I don't think like on the E500, CLS, SL, S etc. Another 100-200 bucks isn't going to hurt MB, but they're trying to save the same amount!

06 ML350 Black/Black Appearance Package/ 06 SC430 Pearl White/White 19" Amistad, Tein CS coilovers
Unhappy new owner

The 06 ML is my first Mercedes. After having it for a few weeks, I must say I am a little dissapointed at the interior fit and finish. I may be comparing it to my 06 Lexus SC430 which probably isn't fair. However I am starting to notice little things in the fit of the interior that are off. For instance the two pillars on either side of the windshield. The point where these meet the dash are off over a quarter of an inch from each other. As far as the finish I think the doors should come with the door panel inserts standard. 700 euros is steep for Alcantra and MB-Tex (vinyl). I also think the seats should be good quality leather not MB-Tex(vinyl). I don't have the rain sensing wiper option but I am still amazed to find out that I cannot adjust the intervals on the intermitent wipers. It is just one setting. Also you can only change radio stations on the steering wheel controls when you are in radio mode on the dash display. If you change the display to the odometer you can no longer change stations on the steering wheel.

Hey guys I am not knocking the truck. I am proud to drive a Mercedes. I guess I just expected a little bit more.

Well, yes...I just found out my leather seats have no leather but some kind of cloth underneath and on the sides...my God...was I dissappointed...I really think trying to safe a buck in this luxury SUV is ridiculous...their interior are not bad, but certainly not up to par with Lexus...sincerely the door panels should come standard on the Premium package I mean, you're paying more that $6,000 for that package anyway...it really sucks...I like my car, but you're all right...the black plastic shouldn't be there...there should be leather door panels and complete leather seatings...I mean, is a $60,000 car.

Intermitent wipers

Does everyone here have the rain sensing wiper option? I don't, not because I didn't want to pay the extra $200. There just wasn't a black/black with appereance package available around here with any other options other than the Harmon & Kardon stereo.

Isn't it primative that you can't adjust the interval on the intermitent wipers?
It is just one setting. I mean even my GMC cargo van is adjustable.

Darn, I can't believe you cannot adjust that. I do have the automatic ones and they work well but I did not know the stock ones were not adjustable...I really don't know what to say...I mean, with or without certain options people are still paying for an MB...they could not even put that standard?

The cloth on some parts of the seats is actually on purpose so you wont complain of leather squeaks. My BMW seats have leather everywhere and squeak like a **** where the plastic trim panel meets the seat. Kudos to MB for using that cloth material to prevent squeaks.
