I think you can add it, but I am not sure. I have it in all my cars now. I am addicted. I am sure it can be added to the E class comands, so I assume as well with the Comand on the MLs.

In Australia, I just installed the Eclipse AVN6000. It fits into the existing stereo space, and is an all in one unit, so doesn't need lots of wiring, etc.

I think the navi is worth it, but it's also being able to play a DVD and show it to the kids in back. Also, the premium sound system, MP3, etc.

Navigation system

Think about possibly just putting in a portable system... the problem with the installed Mercedes version is that the CD's are time specific, ie... ours is current to 2008 for our ML... any new roads or communities do not exist. The only update is a new cd every few years in the $275 range... prices may have changed since I last checked. We also have a portable Garmin that can be updated from the computer... its an option... there are a lot of portables out there, including ones that will give you congested traffic route information.

I wouldn't try to go with COMAND nav...the dealership will rape you for the COMAND and the install. I would go with a portable Garmin...that is the most cost effective option and an overall better navigation system than COMAND. COMAND is counterintuitive, while Garmin is simple stupid and a touch screen.

I have Garmin Nav in all my cars (one portable and two part of Kenwood DNX8120 HU). If you want just straight Garmin nav, you can get one for around $150 to $160...I got mine at CompUSA. Just because it is relatively inexpensive doesn't mean it doesn't do the job...Garmin FTW.

Good luck.
