Question Considering purchase

Hello! New to the forum and had some questions for the current owners.
My wife is leaning towards an ML 500. We are considering a slightly used 2006 or maybe a new 2007.

Your help answering some questions would be appreciated.

-What are the benefits of going with the 2007 over a slightly used 2006? What has changed between the model years?

-What are the MUST HAVE accessories/options? My Cayenne has lots of goodies and she wants her ML to have all the toys too.

-How do you feel about the Nav/Stereo system?

-Is Bluetooth and option?

-I live in Minnesota. Suggestions on wheel/tire combination?

-What do you love about your ML? What to you dislike about your ML?

Thank you much in helping with our buying decision!

Cheers

I will try to answer all I can, I can be wrong.

-What are the benefits of going with the 2007 over a slightly used 2006? What has changed between the model years?

None, just getting 2007 on your papers. Although I always prefer new, that way I know what has happened with MY car. No changes to my knowledge between 2006 and 2007, not even the 306 HP engine that changed on the E and CLS.

-What are the MUST HAVE accessories/options? My Cayenne has lots of goodies and she wants her ML to have all the toys too.

Lighting Package (MUST), Parktronic depending on where you are using it, I like the Harman Kardon Sound, mine had premium package.

-How do you feel about the Nav/Stereo system?

I do not have navigation just the Command with Premium Sound, people complain about the Navigation system

-Is Bluetooth and option?

Now it is with the Bluetooth Adapter, it is already out in Europe and the US. Just plug it the conector under the armrest and you have bluetooth. Still testing varous phones to see how compatible all are. Mercedes is years behind on this.

-I live in Minnesota. Suggestions on wheel/tire combination?

I do not live in Minnesota. Never been there.

-What do you love about your ML? What to you dislike about your ML?

I had Mitsubishi, Lexus and Toyota, both great however, the ML feels like a tank and speeds like a racecar. You know and feel you are riding in a secure, yet agile vehicle. Personally I dislike the looks of the RR R3 and the BMW.

Thank you much in helping with our buying decision! You are welcome

Because is like developing the touchtone phone and keep using rotary in year 2006. You can still comunicate but the touchtone will make it much easier.

I have cars with normal lights and Bi-xenons, and the difference is clear and much better to use bi-xenon.

Bluetooth is an option and is highly integrated in the BMs. The 2007's may get the new V8s. Not sure though.

Packages and options for 2007 have not been released yet. Possible additions may be replacing the 5.0 liter 3-valve with the 4.7 liter 4-valve V8; keylkess go on the ML350; Pre Safe. This is just conjecture at this point.

IMO, Airmatic and the Lighting Package are highly desirable.

-How do you feel about the Nav/Stereo system?
The Nav is okay, but does not have the best interface. The premium stereo is quite good for a factory unit.

-Is Bluetooth and option?
Yes, via accessory adapter.

-I live in Minnesota. Suggestions on wheel/tire combination?
I used Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow on my factory 19" rims with good succes for skiing here in Oregon this past Winter.

-What do you love about your ML? What to you dislike about your ML?
Quiet and refined, good cargo and people space wi/o being a huge vehicle. Gas mileage is only okay at 17-18 or so in town and 20-21 on the highway.
