how to remove service a exceeded?

I had my first service performed at a local shop and they didn't know how to reset the interval for the service a exceeded message which now greets me everyday. Does anyone know how to reset this on the new MLs? I read the manual and it doesn't say how to yourself. thanks

why don't you go back to dealer for service?
I think only dealer will have the computer to reset for you.

too far and they suck.
the manual says that independent service centers can do it though they may have to call MB to learn how.
I just figured someone here would know so don't have to go to MB because it may be simple.

I just got my service A done and they forgot to reset it. I did take it back to the Benz dealer and they had to hook up a laptop to reset it. ( According to the services advisor )

Dealer sucks?? Can't be worse than than the shop you used that can't do or does not have the equipment to do a very basic proceedure. Now how do you know what else they can't do correctly and what they didn't do to your vehicle or did incorrectly with the wrong parts/fluids.

Not everyone lives near a MB dealer! If I lived a few hundred miles from the nearest MB dealer I would be getting my services done locally too. You can reset most MBs with a combo of key and button pushes. The shop should be able to call and get the info though. Try calling the dealer, they should know how to do it or at the very least get the info for you.

dealer has a computer which can connect our car. They can find out what wrong with your car, upload or download new software for your car.
I have been told(Not sure), after you have done a service, dealer will download a software to suit your car miles.
I bought a aftermarket Xenon for my c-class, and it was not working after installed, I wenr back to dealer and they connected their computer to turn on 'Xenon' and it works fine.
I do not recommand peoeple go to local shop if they do a big service or repair. It should be fine if you just want a small check up or change oil. Now a day, Mercdes or BMW is a very smart car(You paid a lot of money), you need to go to a place they know what they are doing.
Good luck.

they suck. or at least every other experience I have had with them has lead to that conclusion. but you're right, maybe they don't completely suck anymore but I will choose to live dangerously. especially since everything problem I've had with the car is "normal".
if you need equipment then I don't think it can be called very basic. very basic would imply I can do it myself and it seems I can't but thanks everyone for trying.

Worth thinking strongly about what SOSH says. If you need Mercedes at any time during guarantee period, or even after under 'goodwill' it's so much easier if you have full MB service history. All modern cars getting so complicated that own dealers are becoming essential. Worth pondering.
