25,000 miles = new wheel bearings
hello
I do not post hear often but I have a question. My wifes ML 500 (early build) has roughly 25,000 miles on it and recently we noticed a humming from the front end. I Took it to the dealership and they said that I had to replace both the left and right wheel bearings. Is this an odd case or is this something that has been going around on other ML's?

Have not heard this before but its possible. has the car been fording any streams?? Hitting curbs?? In a dusty/dirty enviornment?? This is an 06 W164right??

I had similar problems once on another vehicle, and I thought it was the wheel bearings. It turned out that it was a lousy set of tires that were very noisy. Try to get the dealer to test a tire problem by swapping your wheels temporarily with wheels with new tires. You could also check the online forums of various web tire sellers to see if other owners have similar complaints with your tires. Aren't most car bearings sealed and don't need any maintenence, and last alot longer?

Yes, this is an '06 with no hitting curbs, dirty environment etc...
Update; both wheel bearings were replaced and this is the 2nd '06 my dealership has done
