+185 F, Check Engine, Coolant level
I have more problem with my ML 350 again.
The outdoor temp gauge is constantly on: +185 deg F with "Check Engine" Light on.
The "Check Coolant Level" warning light is on, but my coolant reservoir is FULL.
Does anyone has these problems? It drives normally. The engine temperature is not overheated.
The service person does not know and I have to bring it in. I will bring it in as soon as possible, but it will be a 2 hours drive one way!
Thanks for the help.

It sounds like the outside temperature gauge is disconnected. It will show 185 degrees in those cases. I know because on my E I had an accident, and the same thing happened with the temperature.
Not sure about the other things, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were related. I do think you'll need to go to the dealer for this, but they should be able to fix it pretty quickly.

I am experiencing the same issues on my ML350 W164. Replacement of sensor did not change the occurrence of temperature display and low coolant warning. However I suspect that perhaps the wiring rather than the sensor may be the cause. Nevertheless I attach link for youtube video showing replacement and location.:
According to other info available the sensor showing +185F is not representative of engine cooling system. but could influence AC performance instead. I have the suspicion that my comand unit / radio is impacted somehow too since Comand unit only boots up fully if sensor displays below 65F. Not certain of there is a connection here.
Hope this helps.
