Off Road Pack question.

Does anyone know if new ML US-spec one has the Off Road Pro Pack available??
I've looked at the mbusa website and it's not listed in options there.
So question is: Does US spec ML has the low range and two locking diffs standart or do you special order them?

Here in Russia and Europe they have this off road pro pack which includes low range, locking diffs and air suspension. Costs about 2500$.
But I'm thinking about US spec ML since I might be coming to US or will buy one from US later.

Let me know. Thanks.

Not available on new US ML's. Sadly so!

One really has to wonder what bonehead made that marketing decision.

MBUSA is infamous for their 'bonehead' marketing decisions in my book.

If the off-road pack had been available, I surely would have ordered it and done so.

I agree that they've lost some good chunk of sales to other brands cos of this decesion. Plus, USA buyers tend to get cars fully loaded and many have that adventure spirit ;-), one might never use it but one likes to know that he/she can.
I've read some road tests by Russian auto magazines and couple of off-road only magazines and they all report that with off road pro pack ML is indeed Very Good. Among the top off roaders. This package would be very good with that new 320 CDI engine.
Well hopefully they will introduce it. 163 ML had low range, and you could easyly install the locking diff on it.

Have you considered ordering out of the UAE, mainroman?

Hey ClayJ,
Nope I haven't. If I were to buy new car I can order it here.
Arabian versions have their differnces, stronger ACs, weaker heaters e.t.c.
I'll probably get the Canadian spec, you can bring them with no problem to US or to Russia. ;-)

Do you guys have CDI engine in Canada?

UAE cars are US-spec, should have the Off-Road Pkg as an option, and should be available to you at a price thousands lower than in the USA (for a non-AMG model) -- just a thought....

A Canadian vehicle seems like a good choice as well - but I'm not sure that you wouldn't pay more for one.

If your car is purchased outside North America, I seriously doubt MBUSA will warranty it.

Well I'm surely not going to bring UAE car into USA.
That would make sense if I were to bring it here (Russia), I have a UAE Maxima already.
If I'm going to be in USA or Canada, I'll get Canadian version with off road pack. Plus, since I'm going to buy it used, warranty will be expired or expiring soon anyway.
