? About Compass Readout on my 2006 ML350
When I have the compass on screen I can see all the readouts, GPS, sats, etc but the ALT always remains at 0
Is this defective?

Most of NJ is at sealevel or close to it except some western portions of the State. Take a drive West into the hills and you should see it change the read out.

Sosh thanks for the reply. When does it change at 100 feet? I thought it went to 1 and I know we are about 40 feet above where I'm at.

It will change somewhere above 50 feet above sea level. Reads in 100 foot increments. Keep in mind that GPS altitude readouts are very rough and not entirely accurate to the foot. I have a home in NJ also, at the shore. When I drive to the shore mine changes from 300 feet where I live to 0 before I even cross into NJ. Stays there the entire way to the shore. This is true for all GPS units as it computes from the angle of the sats.
